Jose Arenas is a native Phoenician who grew up in the downtown Phoenix area attending schools in the Phoenix Elementary and Phoenix Union High School districts.  He attended Arizona State University earning degrees in Elementary Education and Educational Leadership.

Jose has had the fortune of working in two previous school districts prior to joining Cartwright School District; he started his career in the Isaac School District and served the Phoenix Union High School District.  He currently serves as Human Resources Director for the Cartwright School District.  Jose has served in multiple leadership roles at the campus level as well as the district level. Aside from his work experience in the education realm, he has also served as a Youth Supervisor (on-call) for the Maricopa County Juvenile Court Center for over 30 years.  Jose is a product of a single-family household and is the first to graduate from high school and earn a university degree.  Serving on community boards and participating in civic duties has been an honor for Jose; he has had the fortune in serving on multiple community boards and currently serves as a governing board member for the Pendergast Elementary School District.  He enjoys spending time with his family and following his local professional sport teams. His most rewarding part of his current position is serving the community by hiring the best qualified candidates for positions in the district.  Jose is married and has two sons, whom are educators themselves, serving urban area students. Nurturing relationships and serving as a supportive mentor and servant leader is imperative in serving his community.
